May 14, 2024 - After a year of gathering public input, meetings and development, Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation has released a draft of the Fort Wayne 2024 Park System Comprehensive Plan. The draft is available to view online and also in printed form at the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation office, 705 East State Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN  46805.

May 10, 2024 - Mayor Sharon Tucker joined Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Director Steve McDaniel, AWS Foundation CEO Patti Hays, park representatives, public officials and neighborhood association representatives to dedicate the new Boone Playground on the corner of Boone and Mechanic Streets in the heart of the Nebraska Neighborhood. This new equipment is among the first in a total of ten new playgrounds which will be added to neighborhood parks in 2024, all of which will feature play spaces to encourage children of all ages and abilities to grow and learn through physical, sensory and social experiences.

May 13, 2024  - The City of Fort Wayne's Tall Grass/Weed Program begins today, May 13.

Neighborhood Code Compliance is responsible for enforcing the program, which requires weeds or grass to be no taller than nine inches. The public can report possible violations by calling 311 or 260-427-8311. Individuals reporting a violation must provide the property's street address.
